Ingredients for Ranch Tilapia:
- Tilapia
- Onion
- Unsalted butter
- Ranch
- Lemon juice
- salt and pepper
How to prepare Ranch Tilapia in the oven?
1. Preheat the oven to 375F.
2. Slice onions lengthwise and cut butter into 6 pieces. Then spread onions on the bottom of an oven-safe casserole dish with butter slices.
3. Season the tilapia fillets with salt and pepper and squeeze lemon juice evenly on all fillets. Lightly rub seasoning and lemon juice into the fish. Then top with 1 cup of ranch and spread evenly over each tilapia fillet. If time permits let the fish marinate for about 20 minutes but not more than 2 hours.
4. Place the casserole dish into the preheated oven uncovered and bake for 25 minutes or until the fish flakes when touched with a fork.
How to know when fish is ready?
Testing with a fork is the best way to tell if the fish is ready. Take a fork and at the thickest part of the fish gently press and twist if it easily flakes and is no longer translucent then the fish is done. Another way is to test the internal temperature at the thickest point the fish should reach 140-145F.
