Instructions for breakfast bread bowls
Preheat oven to 350°F
Prep all veggies and topping that you will be using by dicing and cutting up to your desire. You can't go wrong with what toppings you use just make sure to leave enough room for the egg on top.
Making a bread bowl
Slice the top off the roll and remove inside of the bread to create a bowl without removing too much that will cause holes or the bowl to collapse.
Melt butter and drizzle 1 tablespoon into each bread bowl making sure you coat walls inside the bowl. If you forget to coat the walls of the bread bowl the edges will turn out dry.
Assembling breakfast bread bowls
Next, add in vegtables and toppings in layers, for example, spinach, mushroom/onion mixture, sauteed corn, diced bell pepper, diced Canadian bacon, shredded cheese.
Then make a small indent or well in the middle of the bowl to fit the egg.
Crack an egg into the middle of the bowl and season with salt and pepper.
Bake at 350°F for 20-30 minutes
After baked you can top with more cheese and chopped green onions
Serve with salsa, sour cream, or as is.
Bread bowl tips:
-If you like your egg well done it may be wise to wrap your bread bowl with foil to avoid burning as you will need to bake longer.
-If your egg hasn't cooked to your desire and you see the bread starting to get brown on the edges cover it with a piece of foil to prevent burning.
-This breakfast bread bowl recipe is perfect to make for a crowd I have made it at cabin trips and when we have company overnight. Set up all the veggies in bowls and have the bread bowls prepped ahead and have people fill them with what they want and place them on to a cookie sheet and top with an egg on each one and bake together.
