SUSHI RICE INSTANT POT
Julie Chelombitko
Want to make sushi like a sushi chef? To start you will need to make the best sushi rice that is easiest made in the instant pot.
Prep Time 5 minutes mins
Cook Time 10 minutes mins
Total Time 15 minutes mins
Course Side Dish
Cuisine asian, Japanese
- 1 cup Calrose rice
- 1½ cups water
- 2 tablespoon seasoned rice vinegar
Start by washing your rice, in a bowl add water and clean your rice until the water is clear about 2-3 times. I also like to use a strainer under the faucet and cleanse the rice with my hand while the water washes away the starch.
Pour the clean rice into your instant pot along with 1 ½ cups of water. Turn your instant pot on to pressure cook on high for 5 minutes. I do not recommend using the rice option on your instant pot in my experience the rice comes out overcooked and mushy.
Once the pressure cooker has finished cooking let the pressure self-release, If you need the rice quicker let it self-release for at least 5 minutes and then you can manually release the pressure.
Gently mix in 2 tablespoon of seasoned rice vinegar to the cooked sushi rice while the rice is still hot. Now your Sushi rice is ready to make your sushi rolls.
