SAUTEED CHICKEN LIVER
Julie Chelombitko
A recipe that makes chicken liver tender and flavorful without the bloody taste. Now you can enjoy liver for the flavor, not only the health benefits.
- 1.5 lbs chicken liver
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 1 cup milk
- salt and pepper to taste
Drain the chicken liver from the liquid it comes with and wash lightly with cold water. This is best done in a strainer.
Place cleaned liver into a bowl and pour 1 cup of milk over, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
When ready to sauté drain the milk from the chicken livers. Then on a cutting board chop liver into fine small pieces.
Dice onion finely and sautéed in a preheated skillet on medium heat.
Once onions are fragrant and caramelized add in the chopped chicken livers. Season with salt and pepper and sauté until brown on the outside making sure not to overcook. Do a taste test and season accordingly.
Enjoy with a toasted piece of bread!
